Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) June 11, 2007 -- By Kids For Kids Co., "BKFK" is pleased to announce the winners of the BKFK-Maryland "Get Your Head in the Game" Sports Inventor Challenge. All of the winners were celebrated during a special awards ceremony in the "Designated Hitter's Lounge" at Camden Yards on Friday, June 8. The two Grand Prize winners then took a bow on the field before the roaring crowds, estimated at over 22,000, right before the Baltimore Orioles defeated The Colorado Rockies 4 to 2.
The 2007 "Get Your Head in the Game" Grand Prize winners are:

These super kid inventors each received a licensing contract from BKFK, legal support to patent the invention (if patentable), a $1,000 Savings Bond (value at maturity).
The second place winners who received a $100 U.S. Savings Bond are:
Emily Staudmyer -- Age 9 -- This 4th grader from Jenifer Elementary in Waldorf, MD, invented LUG: Light up Goalie Box -- lights that mark the goalie box when playing indoor soccer. Emily was a grand prize winner of last year's BKFK-Maryland "Cool School Tools" invention challenge.

The Grand Prize winners also had the opportunity to select a teacher or mentor that was instrumental in their invention process to receive a $500 savings bond, courtesy of BKFK. Moira Plantier selected Regina Jewer, a talent development teacher from Rolling Knolls Elementary -- she was one of the teachers honored last year. Frank Jiogo selected Rachel Wright, an enrichment teacher from Lisby-Hillsdale Elementary School in Aberdeen, MD.
Dr. Nancy S. Grasmick, State Superintendent of Schools, commenting on the awards said: "I greatly appreciate the opportunities By Kids For Kids has provided Maryland students and teachers, and I am thrilled to honor these talented young inventors. The By Kids For Kids program encourages and rewards innovation, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving -- the skills that will prove essential to America's prosperity in an increasingly competitive global economy."
"Maryland's kid inventors hit a home run once again!" enthused Norman Goldstein, Founder and CEO of By Kids for Kids Co. "We are very excited by the caliber of the winning sporting goods inventions, and look forward to working closely with these extraordinary kids to bring their ideas into the marketplace."
The Maryland Challenge was made possible through the generous support of the following sponsors: The Baltimore Orioles, The Baltimore Ravens, The Daily Record, Tessco Technologies, Edison Venture Fund, The United Inventors Association and Whiteford Taylor & Preston LLC.
The "Get Your Head in the Game" Challenge was the latest installment of BKFK's fully integrated educational outreach initiatives launched just for the state of Maryland. The first phase was the statewide launch of the BKFK Inventive Thinking program in September of 2005. The program provided a "Toolkit," designed to assist educators in teaching inventive thinking skills throughout Maryland's school system and is also downloadable free of charge at www.bkfk.com/teachers. Last year, BKFK sponsored the Maryland "Cool School Tools" competition, where four grand prize winners were awarded licensing contracts from the company.
BKFK is presently in talks with other states in America to introduce their "Inventive Thinking" program into the school districts.
